Verilog and VHDL Texts
Are you looking for a good Verilog or VHDL text? There are many books available, and thus we don't have the ability to provide a comprehensive review of all that is currently available. However, the two books listed below are the ones that we have found to be very useful:
FPGA Development Boards
FPGA development boards are great tools for prototyping your designs and testing them in hardware. There are hundreds of boards available on the market that range in cost and complexity. In addition, the boards vary greatly in terms of what FPGA brand is used and the features of the FPGA itself.
Joel Williams has compiled a very comprehensive list of available FPGA development boards that use either Altera, Xilinx, Lattice, or Microsemi FPGAs.
DDC uses the Arrow BEMICROMAX10 board for classroom training. This development board is an excellent starter kit for beginning FPGA designers. It contains an Altera Max 10 FPGA, 8 MB of SDRAM, an accelerometer, DACs, a temperature sensor, 8 LEDs, 4 push button switches, and several external connectors. The retail price is only $30.
